The Edge Photography Studio Announces Local and International Competition Awards
Leesburg, Va. (PRWEB) October 8, 2008 -- The Edge Photography Studio The Edge Photography, the largest photography studio in Northern Virginia, today announced recent awards in several photo competitions in both Virginia, USA and England. The photographers Don Harper and David Kay add to their string of awards in these annual and monthly competitions.
The Waterford Foundation Art & Photography Exhibition based in Waterford Virginia was held this weekend October 3rd, 4th and 5th. David Kay submitted two entries including "Honor" which took first place in the Photojournalistic category and his artistic rendition of "Southern Swamp" third place in the "Nature" category. "Honor" is representative of the body of work these two photographers have been creating at Arlington National Cemetery during memorial services they've been photographing for many families. More of their work from ANC may be viewed at the website http://www.arlington-photographer.com. There are also open Internet galleries at http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/store.aspx?p=34108 related to the Old Guard (3rd U.S. Infantry) and different military service honor guards and bands including the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines.
Our goal is to capture the story of each event and client we photograph. Coverage at Arlington National Cemetery requires being unobtrusive yet capturing the family's participation in honoring the deceased. We photograph the pageantry of the military honoring the deceased. This may include the horse drawn caisson, rifle salute, military band, honor guard and flag ceremonies; also the playing of taps. In some cases there are also cannon salutes, aerial fly-overs, and the drama of the caparisoned or riderless horse. Don Harper
Edge Photographer Don Harper is an international member of the British Professional Photographers Association and the Society for Wedding and Portrait Photographers. Five entries in the latest competition won one Gold, one Silver and three Bronze awards. The gold award winning image "It's Time" was selected for promoting the 2008 Virginia Polo season at Great Meadow in Warrenton. The silver award is a contemporary bridal portrait. These and other images may be viewed on the Edge Photography Studio blog at http://theedge.bigfolioblog.com/.
Don Harper, the company spokesman states "A key to the success of the Edge Photography studio is based on our unique Graphic design services. The design team is headed by Ines Harper, a recognized leader in event design documentation. Our photographic albums for clients whether brides, or families at Arlington National Cemetery are unique and reflect our story-telling editorial approach to photography."
About Arlington-Photographer.com.
Many families don't consider memorial service photography for preserving an important family event. The purpose of the Arlington-Photographer website is two-fold. First, a name and website that is likely to catch the attention of families that are searching for a photographer or videographer to document their loved one's memorial service. Second, to segregate the emotional photography of a funeral and memorial service from other photographic examples on the Edge Photography website that represent emotions at the other end of an emotional spectrum. For example , Don Harper states "we don't want brides or high school seniors viewing a funeral service and we don't want a widow or other relatives of the deceased viewing a young couple playing and celebrating the start of their family. That is just a heart-rending experience we can avoid. We want families to know that we are unobtrusive but able to capture the military paying honor to the deceased as well as the family member present.'"
